Community Service & Pro Bono Work

Gibbs Giden honors the community by donating our professional legal services (pro bono) and partnering with organizations in sponsorship and support of select youth, health, human services, and cultural programs. Below is a list of recent events and organizations we have supported and the pro bono work of our attorneys.

Cancer Support Community of Pasadena

2022

Widely recognized as the “gold standard” among providers of cancer support services, Cancer Support Community Pasadena (“CSCP”) has been providing free, professionally-led support, education and hope to families facing cancer for over 30 years. After years of providing support, education and hope to families facing cancer – in three different leased facilities – Cancer Support Community is thrilled to announce that it is purchasing a building in Sierra Madre. Anyone facing cancer will now be assured that this support will be here for them not only today, but also tomorrow.

Gibbs Giden is proud of the pro bono work Barbara Gadbois and Jeff Love have done in support of this cancer support community.

Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County

2022

Gibbs Giden is a Bronze Sponsor of the Hearts & Hammers Dinner and Auction Gala which raises funds to empower more families, build, strength, and provide stability in our communities through affordable homeownership.

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank

2022

“The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter comprise the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 63 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 550,000 people per month in San Diego County. Through our North County Food Bank chapter and by partnering with nearly 500 nonprofit partners with feeding programs, the Food Bank provides nutritious food to individuals and families in need in communities throughout San Diego County.”

We are proud to be a supporter of this effort. To learn more visit to their website at https://sandiegofoodbank.org/about/

Building For Good

2019 – 2023

Building for Good (B4G), connects volunteer construction attorneys with charities and nonprofit organizations with a construction law need. Since legal services, though necessary, can be a financial burden on a nonprofit trying to fulfill a goal and it can be daunting trying to figure out how to navigate the legal landscape B4G helps provide counsel to those in need. B4G helps nonprofits focus on their mission delivery instead of attorney fees. Gibbs Giden supports B4G with financial contributions and with attorneys who donate their time pro bono.

Building For Good

Desert Voices/Schuff Steel Charity Golf Classic

We are proud to support Schuff Steel in their efforts on behalf of Desert Voices the beneficiary of the annual Schuff Steel Charity Golf Classic. Each year, Schuff raises funds to support the efforts of Desert Voices, Arizona’s only non-profit organization dedicated to teaching children who are deaf the listening and spoken language skills needed to speak and to understand when others speak to them. Desert Voices provides life-changing services to children who are deaf.

Food From the Bar

2012 – 2023

The 7th Annual Food From The Bar Campaign helps the legal community to fight hunger in Los Angeles. Gibbs Giden helps collect food and donations for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and we are proud to have been recognized as a Bronze Partner in honor of our past efforts.

Public Counsel

2019 – 2021

Jason M. Adams has spent one morning a week serving as a volunteer Court Mediator in the Los Angeles Superior Court for the Los Angeles Department of Consumer & Business Affairs. Every case settled helps to clear the docket for a court system that consistently runs over capacity. It’s a great free program that should be considered by anyone dealing with a smaller dispute before going to trial. Drop Jason a line at Jadams@gibbsgiden.com if you’d like more information about the DCBA mediation program.

GLA/ALA 5K Justice Jog

2011 – 2019, 2022 – 2023

Every year the firm sponsors multiple runners. The Greater Los Angeles/Association of Legal Administrators (“GLA /ALA”) donates the net proceeds from the Justice Jog to an organization in need. Gibbs Giden is a proud continuing supporter of this event. The proceeds from this run/walk are donated to CASA of Los Angeles, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.
